Aluminum or wooden pergola? The pros and cons

The aluminum pergola is the extension of our home and is directly intertwined with our outdoor space. The differences between the wooden and aluminum pergolas are noticeable as the usability and aesthetics differ significantly.

Aluminum pergolas are distinguished by constant innovation and sophisticated design, as well as the ability to offer fully adapted solutions to the requirements of each customer.

With a wide range of products, aluminum pergolas are constantly being developed. For example, the Kedry Skylife pergola uses a folding, movable blade roof that allows adjusting both the intensity of light and the ventilation of the air. With a simple, smooth movement, the blinds rotate and retract at the same time, providing quick and easy coordination of personal comfort at the touch of a button. Ideal for residential or commercial settings, Kedry Skylife is designed to offer wonderful protection from the bright sun, wind, and rain, thanks to the built-in and completely hidden water drainage system.

The modular design allows Kedry Skylife to be installed in multiple units to create virtually an unlimited coverage area, combined with every architectural style and with minimal impact on the environment. Pleasant lighting is provided both inside and outside the pergola thanks to an LED lighting system built into the frame of the pergola. The simplicity of operation and full automation is achieved by applications for smartphones and tablets, allowing the user to control and determine the operation of the pergola, even from a distance.

On the other hand, the Barcelona pergola is a combination of wood and an awning. For our constructions, we use various wood options depending on the customer's preferences. Very often our customers are interested in African timber such as teak iroko etc. to ensure not only the life of the wood but also a perfect aesthetic result without obvious roses or imperfections in the wood.

Teak wood and iroko, are woods very hard up to their heart which does not allow fungi to penetrate inside and corrode the structure. On the other hand, complex pine wood is used very often when we want to achieve large lengths without central columns.

For the awnings, we use the ΚΕ awnings which are extremely durable. Of course, straight awnings are not suitable for rainy days or for large armholes, so we always advise our customers to keep them closed when they are not in the area.

As we find out, aluminum and wooden pergolas are completely different both in terms of use and aesthetics.
